A private holding company built around physical commodities.
Through our subsidiaries, we own operating businesses inside physical commodity supply chains — and run a proprietary trading desk in the same markets. The two sides feed each other. That's the reason the firm is built the way it is.
What we do, in plain terms.
stopgrid is a privately held holding company. Through its subsidiaries, it owns operating businesses across physical commodity supply chains — mostly storage, logistics, and processing — and runs a proprietary trading desk in energy, metals, and agricultural markets.
The two sides are connected on purpose. The operating businesses give the trading desk a real view of physical flows and inventory that most financial traders don't have. The trading desk positions on that view — and hedges the physical book from the other direction.
We are privately held, based in Houston, and we work only with our own capital. We are not a fund. We do not manage anyone else's money.
Long-hold ownership of storage, logistics, and processing assets inside the physical value chain — held for their cash flow and for what they tell us about the market.
A discretionary and systematic book across energy, metals, and agricultural derivatives — positioned with what the operating side sees, and hedging it from the other direction.
Answers.
Is stopgrid a hedge fund?
No. We are a privately held holding company. Our trading desk sits inside the group as a subsidiary and trades only the firm's own balance sheet. We do not accept outside capital, we do not run separately managed accounts, and we are not an investment adviser.
What does stopgrid actually own?
Operating businesses inside physical commodity supply chains — mostly storage, logistics, and processing. We hold them for the long term, both for their cash flows and for the market intelligence they generate for our trading book.
How do the two halves work together?
The physical businesses show us what is actually moving — where inventory is building, where basis is off, which routes are congested. The trading desk turns that into position, and where it makes sense, uses the derivative book to hedge the physical assets. Neither side works as well on its own; that is why we run them together.
Do you offer funded-trader programs?
No. We do not run evaluations, do not sell challenge accounts, and are not affiliated with any firm that does. Every trade on our books is placed by a stopgrid employee for the firm's own account.
